..or stupidity as a learnin' tool, AKA Things I wish I knew last week
Here's a smattering of things I found out the hard way, mostly ignoring it until they smacked me in the face and some plain old pointers. Hopefully you'll either have found these already or chortle to yourself whilst surreptitiously checking.
1) Do RvR as often as possible. The scenarios are fun and easy to sign up for although you may have to wait to get in. Renown level unlocks both items from specialist renown merchants and gives you renown points that can be spent to boost stats\resistance or give bonuses in RvR. 1st tier merchants and trainers are in your first warcamp, 2nd tier and up they're at the top of the tower in the RvR zones.
2) When training some skills don't go straight to your hotbar. Press V to bring up your skills window and have a look around the categories, making sure the side tab is set to all. Action is stuff that turns up on your side bar, Morale powers go to above your morale meter, Tactics get slotted in your tactics bar and general just seems to be a grab bag - your crafting skill will be in here as well.
(
Here's a screenie with the Morale and Tactics bars pointed out)
2a) My first big DoH! You can slot any TWO tactics that you've picked up from training. The third slot is for tactics gained through renown points and the last is from unlock from your Tome of Knowledge.
2b) You gain extra Morale powers so that you can pick and choose what powers you have, for example in
this screen shot I have four powers; Two that can go in my first Morale slot and Two that can go in the second.
3) Mastery training, you start getting Mastery points at Level 11 and they're used to specialise in the skills you have. There are also some powers and tactics available on the 'ladder' but, and this is important, once you have highlighted the step it's on you must also spend a mastery point to get the power and then hit the train button.
4) If you're running a bit low on quests find the nearest flight point and spend some time in one of the other war zones, they'll be plenty there.
5) Do public quests! So far I've found that the higher level loot bags from successful PQ completion gives the best loot, second best is the renown rewards (also gained at PQs) from the rally masters. Generally a team of six of appropriate level, about the same as the creatures in the area, should be able to do most of them.
6) Slotting talismans - Keep getting asked this by Cuthbert. To slot a Talisman remove the item you want to enhance, open your backpack and SHIFT - R Click on the item, on the new window that opens click and drag the talisman and hit the fuse button at the bottom. Once slotted the talisman can't be removed but can be over written.
That's all for now, feel free to add tips, hints and DoH! moments
