Looks like NCSoft's difficulties in Korea has caused them to can the whole of Paragon Studios, and this seems to have come as a huge surprise to all the staff. IGN gives shut off date as Nov 30. This morning we announced that Paragon Studios will be taking to the skies of City of Heroes for the last time.
In a realignment of company focus and publishing support, NCsoft has made the decision to close Paragon Studios. Effective immediately, all development on City of Heroes will cease and we will begin preparations to sunset the world's first, and best, Super Hero MMORPG before the end of the year. As part of this, all recurring subscription billing and Paragon Market purchasing will be discontinued effective immediately. We will have more information regarding a detailed timeline for the cessation of services and what you can expect in game in the coming weeks.
The team here at Paragon deserves special praise for all that we have accomplished over the last 5+ years. These developers are some of the most creative and talented people in the gaming industry. By now, we've all been given this news internally, but to anyone who may be reading this message after the fact; know that your hard work and dedication has not gone unappreciated or unnoticed. To any potential studios looking to grow your team; hire these people. You won't regret it.
To our Community,
Thank you. Thank you for your years of support. You've been with us every step of the way, sharing in our challenges, encouraging us to make City of Heroes better, more than everyone else thought it could be. We couldn't have come this far without you. I implore you all, focus on the good things of CoH and Paragon Studios. Don't dwell on the "how" or the "why", but rather join us in celebrating the legacy of an amazing partnership between the players and the development team.
Thank you, and I'll see you in the skies, one last time.
Andy Belford

The last Redhill meet seemed to collapse into apathy, was supposed to be about now. I still play CoH as does Doc Ram. What you get for playing free depends on how long you actually subscribed for. My 13 year old nephew played his first session yesterday, so I'm guessing I might be playing a while. http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Paragon_Rewards_Program tells you what you get, and you get 2 toons + 1 per year subbed + any extra slots you bought. The game is much changed, but you don't get to see a lot of the new stuff unless you subscribe. Hope all goes well with the baby. While I never settled car insurance claims, I did work in the department that paid the garages after a repair which means I read a lot of claims. Most of it was dull, but bits were fun.

Hi gang, Hope you're all well and that people actually still check these boards The wife is due to give birth in a few weeks so exciting times! Still living in the North East and work settling car insurance claims these days. Quite a change of pace. I Google'd City for nostalgia purposes only and apparently is free to play these days but like some restricted version with only two toon slots *shivers.* Still doesn't exactly make me want to pick it up again. Does anyone here even play CoX these days? I also here WoW is free these days or is that some weird web rumour? Do you still meet up for the legendary Redhill meets? I'd like to get down for one of them some time if there still an event.

A warlock walks into a bar and sits down. He orders a glass of beer and starts relaxing, when all of a sudden, a DK walks in and sits next to him. He turns to look at the warlock and says: 'Hey buddy, conjure me up something to drink,'
The warlock raises an eyebrow and looks to the DK, clearly confused. He set his bottle down and spoke, slowly, and clearly, so as not to confuse the DK.
'You want me to summon water? Buddy, you've got the wrong person...'
With that said, he returned to his drink. However, the DK spoke up once again.
'Well if you can't conjure me up something to drink, can you at least conjure me up something to eat?'
The warlock sighed heavily and set his drink down, turning once again to face the DK.
'If I can't conjure you something to drink, what makes you think I could conjure you something to eat? You clearly need a mage, now stop bothering me.'
The warlock returned to his drink, only to find the DK nudging his shoulder.
'Oh I'm sorry,' the DK said mockingly. 'I thought you had something to offer to someone other than yourself.'
The warlock smoothly rose from his seat, grabbed his bottle of beer, and swung it hard, smashing the DK full in the face. The DK collapsed on the floor amidst a shower of beer, blood, shards of glass, and shattered pride, groaning in pain. The warlock tossed the broken neck of the bottle on the floor, and smoothed his robes.
'Oh I'm sorry,' he said with a smile. 'I thought you could tank.'

Hi Guys,
I know I haven't been in touch for a few months for which I apologise. Had a lot going on! Although I am not intending to return to CoH or WoW for the foreseeable you're still friends so I wanted to inform you that my wife Vicki, and I are expecting a baby and his/her ETA is 16/08/12. We are both thrilled if slightly overwhelmed by it all! I do hope sometime soon I will be in the Redhill area so can have a drink to commemorate but for now this will do!
