Only plan so far is Villian side and Triumph server.
Group theme? AT restrictions? Colours?
Sign up and discuss below :)
Also we have a few new members to the 'Hope so I'd like to give them first refusal for the team.
-
I can see the multiple people meaning poss more than 8. What if we had no AT restriction (not hot on doing this again anyway) and that way if we do end up with more than 8 we can just break into smaller teams. With drop out as it is any way we should end up with a single 8 man team.
I like the idea of themes, working off what what discussed during tonight, I like the idea of 'Undead'. Pretty open ended and people can interpret it how they like. Zombies, werewolves, necromancers, witches, vampires, etc. It can be taken seriously if you wish (I know skar likes to spend time on his toons) or just go silly. I have just rolled Lt Col Ray 'kicks' Butt, a AR/Traps Tech Corr. He looks pretty cool and should be fun to play. A theme like this (just my idea, dont mind going with something else) is open ended and means we can look like a team without having to conform to an AT or colour set.
And I am really up for this.
Can you tell? ;D

Will probably roll a villain epic of some description.
-
How about the Praetorian Snow White and the seven dwarfs....Naam suggests slicy, dicey and frapper :)
-
Even if we're not sticking strictly to a theme I still like a unifying colour scheme, it does look bloody fantastic 8)
And that's Frappe, it's a blender setting :)
-
ooh, an excuse to return to Coh after being lured by wow?
I'm up for it.
Something in a dominator I think, or perhaps a mastermind...
-
Thinking about it...
A restriction of MMs (only 1 or 2) would probably be a good idea. It's far to easy to get overwhelmed by pets, especially when Buff time comes around. Also a good Bind set is essential for congenial team play, if people don't already have a favourite try this set - http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=3949032&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1#3949032 .
Another idea I like (shamelessly stolen from NTF ;) ) is No Kins - they do make it a bit too easy most of the time.
-
Colours are easy enough to sort out, all you do is enter sg mode and hey presto! we all match. I think it would be fun to get a good theme going. I feel that dead characters is a bit of the norm red side, so i was thinking, how about Anorexic Barbie and her Kens.

Sadly I suspect Anorexic Barbie (or my preferred Gangbang Barbie) would get generic'd, how about Chav Barbie ?
Snow White and the seven dwarves (or snow dwarf and the seven wights) would be entirely possible.
I don't have a problem with kins, Forlorn hope level much slower than NTF anyway (by comparison last night which I think is fairly typical we did 8 or 9 bubbles for those who were 44, NTF do about 13 in a night with no kin at pretty close to the same level).
I do however have a problem with excessive MMs for a couple of reasons, one of which may not be readily apparent. Jerky movements can cause me motion sickness which is part of why I have issues with storm, I tend to play using follow in combat so big and particularly AoE KB sometimes causes me issues. With a lot of pets, I will move somewhere, the game will realise a second later there was a pet in the way and put me back where I got blocked, causing the same sort of jerky movement and giving me problems. I try to avoid teaming with more than one MM if I can. Also the way the game handles realising it's screwed up and a player and a pet are occupying the same space so it displaces the player and if that takes you through a handrail and off a balcony or off an oranbega bridge so be it frustrates the hell out of me as happened 5 or 6 times on the SF I did last weekend.

Most of my alts looks like anorexic barbies anyway...
-
1 MM then, Brod has dibs :)
Kins - Will mull on it, I just dislike how heavily the Kin players gets leaned on.
As for themes;
Rednecks
Corporate Drones
Bots and Borgs
Disco (Flares and Huge Afros are evil in of themselves ;) )
Forgotten Deities - Wiki trawl but can be fun
Dark Clowns (http://www.trippingtherift.tv )
Any suggestion of Catgirls will be met with the Leader Heavy, pointy stick veto and for information a "Street thug" team on the NTF villian group juts ended up looking like The Village People

I'm happy to go with a "no mastermind" rule if people like, some of the dom sets look very fun...

How about zombie disco, dsico's not dead, it's undead. ;)
Forgotten deities could be good too, I feel a trawl of neil Gaimen's back catalogue coming on...

Now that is truly evil ;D

Also many Pantheons have their 'bit players' and Z list gods - have a trawl through http://www.pantheon.org/
As another thought, what about a typical 'Bond type' villian and the rest is made up of 'Jumpsuited minions'
-
kk to keep it tidy:
People who have shown interest:
Min
Naam
Jimmy
Brod
BB
Swifty
Skar
Suggestion of banned or limited sets/AT's
Max 2 MM
No kin
No Storm
No Thermal (Some peoples systems have trouble with the Graphics)
On themes I suggested Undead as a buzz word. A word that people can interpret how they wish. This could be done with lots of words. Although the idea of a bond villian is cool, it then limits the others in the choice of their costumes. We limited ourselves heavily on the hero team so I suggest a more anarchic feel for the villians. Forgotten Gods is good, There is a massive range and I like the idea of 8 Gods Struggling to regain their power. I also think a celebrity Z list/ Hollywood's darker side could be fun. A team of failed actors, air-head heiress' and disgruntled agents. (Perfect oppertunity for a stalker too ;D).

the trouble with that one is what powers would people have?
Thematically you’re pretty stuck with super strength or weapons based brutes (and stalkers), and AR/ traps corruptors.
Unless you’re all more creative at thinking up biographies than I am.
I do like the idea of forgotten deities, a couple of ideas that spring to mind are Czernobóg probably an Ice/Ice dominator- though he could be a dark corruptor, or for the pun lover in me Psychopomp which frankly could work with any villain, but a mind/psy dom would work quite well.
And for the comic relief Sucellus would work as a drunken plant/thorns dom.
Either that or clowns, a clown super team would rock, we could be “the shadow of carnivals”. ;)
-
Disco or clowns is fun.
Suspicious pimp/agent looking guy and a team straight out of a blaxploitation movie or ludicrous yellow/pink/green/orange suits.
Zombie carnival or zombie disco can be done at least to some extent.
-
And especially for Swiftys' odd Zombie fetish....

Please consider me for the team, i might be new to this stuff but I think I have lots to offer.
just an idea what calling ourselves "The rule of eight"
According to the Lewis and Langmuir model, if an atom had seven electrons in an outer shell, it would tend toward collecting an eighth for maximum stability. One way to do this was to combine with another atom that had one extra electron in its outer shell. The two atoms would "share" an electron, creating a more stable product. The resulting "shared electron bond" tied the atoms together into a molecule.
This doesn't give me any particularly good ideas for outfits, but we could name ourselves after famous Chemists!

That sounds like edumakation..... We don' like yor sort 'round 'ere
Quick Swifty, Sic 'im! ;)

In all fairness tho. All going science origin is a good idea. Not one I normally use, could help theme the group

I'd love to join in but I'm in Hellgate London on Tuesdays so unable to make it to the rogue islands.
Also it may be useful to set some rules about attendance? So everyone knows in advance what the score is and you can always be flexible if advance notice is given (not running when on a TF/SF last mission unless all present)
I'd do the gods if I were you guys but you'll have to wait until valentines 09 to all get your togas. ;)
on the MM thing consider restricting them to 3 pets to reduce clutter and buff times. (I don't summon the minions in caves when in a team unless I'm facing a wipe)
Good luck and have fun

Back to the corporate suit idea for a mo...
I once played around with the idea of a load of grey suited guys call 'the corporation' with a toon based on a middleaged man in a grey suit.
We could create identical toons :) i.e. one person creates the toon and posts the costume build up (including face settings) - I think 8 identical toons running round would be cool :)

Not quite identical is better, having a means of quickly identifying who's who does help. Either numbers/letters on the chests, different coloured hats or whatever.
The best version I've seen of this was team phantom army.
-
A thought along similar lines..
Wear identical clothes\armour but then alter the colours for AT/Powerset. For example; Largish Shoulderpads are coloured for AT type (think old school Hami costumes) and the secondary colour for the rest of the body shows what powerset (orange -fire, red -SS, dark blue - electric, light blue - energy)

Ok, here’s something a little off the wall, but fits in with the “corporate drone” theme, and allows similarity of costumes with rapid identification.
Combining the evils of corporate management speak, and self help guru quackery this clown Dr Edward deBono came up with his “six thinking hats system”,
http://www.debonothinkingsystems.com/tools/6hats.htm
I once had to suffer through a week long course on this buffoonery, but the government version, which ash been expanded to 7 “thinking hats” with the addition of the “jesters hat” (for the off the wall ideas).
So, we now have Dr deBono and his seven hated goons. Dr deBono could look different from the rest, with the seven other toons all in identical suits, but with different coloured bowler hats, except for the guy wearing the jesters hat.
Toon names (apart from the good doctor) could be corporate buzzword nonsense, (“synergy” perhaps, or “blamestorm”) for inspiration, look here (click refresh for a new bingo card) http://www.betterworkplacenow.com/bingo/
We could even make them zombie corporate drones… ;)

Speaking personally I think that collectivised take up of my proposal would synergise well with the core values embedded within the corporate ethos, and key values, of Arachnos as implemented (dynamically) through the Rogue Isles project.
I will take your constructive criticism on board, but I think we should back burner it at this juncture, instead focusing on how empowering the key stakeholders in this process can help to actualise the shared vision of this team.
I think as we peel the onion we'll find, at the end of the day, that the knowledge base potentially unutilised though this interactive forum may produce an optimal merger of diverse concepts, which can ensure maximal end-user buy-in, especially if we all communicate our wants/needs proactively.
Don't you agree?
:p

Now, now Swifty, I think you need a revisualisation of your supergroup-mate interface performance. Downsizing your aggression to within manageable parameters may help to kick-start this process.
However, the short term priority at this point should be for you to disengage your hands from around my throat, so that we can work towards some kind of win-win solution for all concerned in the long run.

Count me in, I like the undead theme but I love the corporate buzzword naming. I am thinking KPIs, up-sizing or down-sizing (depending on my toons physique). Let me know which ATs are left so I can do some research (not used to playing without a meat shield between me and the good guys)
-

We could be Buzzword Zombies. Corporate officials caught up in a tragic accident involving a case of Post-It notes, a Photocopier and a Skinny Venti Java Chip Frappuccino (with extra hazelnut syrup). The only thing that keeps them tied to this world is the meaningless verbiage they spout and an unfinished Health and Safety report regarding "The Trip and Stab dangers of coffee stirrers", it's rumoured that if anyone actually understands what they're saying they will be forever banished back to the 'meeting room', where doughnuts and pastries will be available for all eternity ;D

Gay corporate zombie called Backwards compatible ?

Close, but sounds more like the IT guy ;)
BTW Still not set on theme, keep throwing ideas out. We've got a few weeks yet.

Actually came off the buzzword bingo board from earlier in the thread, so I feel fairly safe the name's legit.

mmmm buzzwords.
I bagsy syntegrity :)
Perhaps your toon could be a corrupter Brod something with the ability to send enemies to sleep with endless policy statements :P its a good thing we don't have team speak LOL
The undead beurocrats would of course moan "brains..."
-
I'll play if there's any spare room :)
just let me know

Does anyone know that when it comes down to the epic AT's if the costumes are fixed or not, as in you have to look like a bane spider or a fortuna, if so that may cause problems if people want to play the epics, like me.

IIRC there are certain costume pieces you have to take on the epics (crab spiders have to take a backpack which I suspect has the extra arms), but beyond that you have a fair amount of choice. If anybody has actually played a 50 villain on the test server (to unlock the epics, I haven't) they can check this out as you can get into the costume creator.
-
Would dearly love to jump on this team but realisticallly I have the same issue I have with the current tuesday night group coinciding with work and not looking likely to change.
-
Hi guys- I joined this thread late - has this started yet and did I get in?

Not started yet and won't until the current team hits 50 (we're in the mid 40s atm).
I think the plan is to let anybody who wants to join do so, and if we have >8 on the night, split into 2 teams.
-
Roster so far;
Mark, Ice Wild, Barney and Brod. I've PM'd GearHead to see if he's interested - these are the 'new' guys, most of whom have tried a night with the team and still want to play ;D
Min, Swifty, Jimmy, BB and Me - are the regulars. Looks like we may have to draw straws :(
Did I miss anyone?
-
How about freakshow? we all love em.
Just some kind of aleternate freaks so we can still pick more powers than lecky or SS
-
Some ideas for team themes
1 (This probably amuses only me -) World of Warcraft characters who found themselves in the wrong game.
"Hordies and Allies" can constantly insult each other and we can scream scream "look at me, I can fly, I must be level 70"
"Where's the Inn I need a quick hearthstone" oooh the posibilities are endless
2 Alien SWAT team or Police force. Somthing like the Roughnecks in Starship Troopers only well er Aliens. We could not just agree on colours but on our emblem as well.
3 Post Apolocolyptic survivors - rippied clothes, Mad Max and Mutations
4 Trailerpark Trash - Villians too stooopid to know they are bad (Bagsy I be Cleatus)
4 Possesed Superhero - Cheesy 1950 hero types with bold simple costumes and names like "Kid Dynamte" but slightly twisted
You may already have a theme but I was bored at work....

3 Post Apolocolyptic survivors - rippied clothes, Mad Max and Mutations
Hell yeah, i like this one. a sonic/sonic tina turner! mine!
-
I like the idea of the cheesy superheroes :) Have been having a rethink regards the group and I *probably* still can join most weeks around 8:30 after work, once I finally get a decent internet connection. Obviously if the team is filled then thats fair enough so put me down as a substitute, so to speak.
