NCSoft have started up their own 'refer a friend' program for City of Heroes, each account holder getting 4 invites.
If you'd you'd be interested at having a go at another game we have more than enough invites so just put your name down here. It does require an e-mail address so if you could make sure your forum contact details are up to date :)
If you want some more information about the game there's tons at the official website www.coh.com (http://www.coh.com) also, due to the fact that the 10 day trial starts when you use the key to open your account, the client can be downloaded and installed first. Go to ftp://client.coh.com/US/ (ftp://client.coh.com/US/) and download the file named 'cohupdater.zip'
Extract the file and Run it to begin the download. Once it's finished (an evening or overnight should do) then follow the instructions in the e-mail to create an account.

Yeh I figured there was a reason we've not seen swifty or yourself in game :D, Ok tell me one thing does it cost money to play like WoW and if so how much? I would check but I know that companies are good at hiding these things on their websites
-
Well we play on the American servers - the prices are (from here (http://www.plaync.com/us/support/doc_1876.html?prod=9))
* $14.99 per month
* 3 months - $41.85 (the equivalent of $13.95 per month)
* 6 months - $77.70 (the equivalent of $12.95 per month)
* 12 months - $143.40 (the equivalent of $11.95 per month)
Given the useless dollar at the moment :D that's about £7.50 (€11). The trial is free for 10 days (and no restrictions that I'm aware of) and having an NCSoft account is handy as they're always betaing something ;)

Well don't get me wrong i'm defo tempted to give it a go but 10 days isn't a huge amount of time. So tell me about server details what do I need to know before I sign up? I will almost certainly give this a go at the very least to try out a game which can keep anyone away from WoW since I have yet to find one

The server we mostly play heroes on is Infinity, shout when you intend to play and we can make sure someone's around to assist :)
Other than that it's pretty simple, five different character archetypes (AT) each with a subset of power sets. You choose your AT and then a Primary and Secondary powerset then spend ages getting your costume right. Once you've done that pick your (first) name with care, it'll automatically become your Global Handle and is only changeable once (the global chat allows you to speak to friends without knowing their characters names and across servers).
The ATs are;
Scrapper: Primary - Melee damage, Secondary - defence
Tanker: Primary - Defence, Secondary - Melee damage
Blaster: Primary - Ranged damage, Secondary - grab bag of Melee damage, holds and minor buffs
Controller: Primary - Holds and immobilise, Secondary - buffs and debufffs
Defender: Primary - Buffs and debuffs, Secondary - ranged damage
Generally Scrappers are good starter characters, they have enough defence to handle most situations and enough DPS to not be boring ;D
EDIT - As a side point I'm not around much this weekend (23rd & 24th June) but other members of the Hope should be around to assist, recruit and answer questions :)

I still have an active account on City of Heroes with some newbie characters on it. Er actually I think they're all newbies. Its on infinity. That's where "Twylyte" comes from.
If anybody is a starter I think it would be fun to start again. I have tried palling up now and again with both Bryan and Rachel and I've loved it.
To my mind the key differences between this and Wow is that this is a straight up scrap game (all the CoH fans now correct me). It has gone for elegant simplicity over Wows inordinate complexity.
I miss it and I'd love to join any newbie group that's going.
Make sure though that you register on the US servers not the Europen otherwise you cannot play with us.

Pretty much :)
Other prominent differences I like are;
Sidekicking and Exemping - allows disparate levels to team effectively without the "stay at the back lowbie!" mentality.
No 'must have' ATs in teaming - a full team of eight doesn't need a healer and a tank to be effective. They can make it easier but it's still possible to complete missions without them.
Travelling - You can be anywhere for a mission within five minutes, much less if a team mate has picked up the Teleport powerset (available to everyone)
-
Yeah WoW sometimes plays like an awkward CoH or CoH plays like a simple WoW depending if you want grandeur and detail or fast and furious.
Hurc - let me know when you have got it up to snuff. I'll start on the inevitable upgrades and get mine ready too.
For you Hurc I recommend Scrapper!! trust me it's you!!

Should I create a new character than? ;D
-
excellent by the internet here has decided to deny my e-mail account gimme a sec i'll run elsewhere and get the code.
-
Is everybody on infinity btw?
Skar - a new character if you've got one or a lowbie.
Mark
-
i am on infinity and a member of the sg
-
Oh - just a few hints...
When you hit level 6 your contact will give you a mission to go see David Wincott in The Hollows.
1) You'll be quite far away from The Hollows entrance at that point, you can enter the zone from level 5 and chat to him then to not be given the mission
2) If you forget just talking to Wincott satisfies the mission. Run straight back out again (see 3)
3) The Hollows zone has one of the highest concentrations of idiots in the game, I'd heartily suggest skipping it on first characters

Ok i'm trying to get to the hollows and making a mess of it, I can seem to use the trains so I went down from galaxy city and then east in to starway city and everything is beating the crap out of me :D.
Is there more than 1 quest line? Cos i've only found 1
PS Char name of magorian, on infinity server US, I guess there is some kind of guild I need to join

contacts pass you onto your next one once you satisfy a lvl requirement or have done enought of their missions. Unlike WoW you do not need to wander around looking for contacts.
Hollows is through a large gate in the east of your map when you are in atlas park. should be a red & hazard stripe square on you map
Any questions just ask.

Ok, downloaded the CoHUploader.Zip file, installing, can't wait to see whats kept some of ya away from WoW, and I've already got a code, Hodhr sent me, (Thanks! = D) I hadn't used the code before now as I wasn't sure where I could get the files from... now I know, and now I am. I'm curious though, what server do you all play on, if you play on seperate servers on CoH like WoW does.
-
I have updated downloaded fixed de-bugged and all that ... I'm in
Some nice person put my lvl 3 blaster "edikt" in the SG and I have characters all the way up to the dizzy hights of 14.
When do the KOM contingent wanna play?

Ok, I would sign in but it turns out I need to put all card details and stuff, therefor can't be bothered to much about it, but as i'll be sorting out my bank card soon, I might join, but the character name will more then likely be something like Neodragus, Drake, Dragore; Just the standard stuff I try n use
