Mags

How's the Guild bank going?

Short of anything?
Anything we have too much of?

No problem - we need a few weeks to build the bank up anyway.

My latest idea is "Swap Shop" - if u see something in the bank that suits u swap it for something of similar value.
That way the most generous will also receive something.

I'm thinking golden pearls for righteous orbs - that sort of thing.

Hmmm..... if someone sent me an email, then either I have no recollection of it at all, or it may have been accidentally chucked out with a ton of junk..... Filters and spam identifying software is all well and good, but I think I should start using one of my other accounts.....

Oh and ganging up on your webmaster just earn's you a turn in the Yogi suit.... (for that reference, click here (http://forum.forlorn-hope.org/index.php?topic=128.msg745#msg745) and check links in the post under that... actually I just laughed out loud re-reading some of the follow ups....)

Basically, i have forwarded a guild util that will parse out the banking information into a html file.

All we need is a way of this html file appeaing somewhere on the interweb.

They way i thought of it working was we get a sticky post for banking, with a link to where the bank file is stored, this way we can keep track of history.

The util also comes with a batch file that can be ran as a sched task to upload the html file to a specified FTP address- so this is where you come in ZM and hopefully you will be able to give mags access to a dir somehwere, so that he can dump the file, or Have you got an easier / better way of doing it.

Cheers
Herc

I may well have an easier/better way of doing it..... However I don't appear to have any email about the gizmo...

I've updated my email contact info in the member only forum post to a newer therefore less spammed account if you want to send it there, and I'll take a look at see what I can rustle up for you guys...

Ok, do you want the whole util or just the html file that the bank details are outputted to?

if you want the whole util i will send it to you this evening, the mean sysadmins have blocked gaming websites.

Oh wait thats me ;)

when explaining this set up to me remember two things. First of all I like nothing better than the version with large big latters and pretty pictures. Second, the implementatoin may not be possible with the new patch coming live today.

That is all

Ok, i will download the util tonight and see if it still works after the patch, i will then converse with ZM as to the best way to do it, then i will give Mags full documentation on how to set it up. ( Technical Author Hat on )

How does that sound?

If it all works okay chuck over a packet with both the util and a sample result (I'm curious, and always a touch wary about talk of automated FTP - tried something like that on my hosting account yesterday with not complete success actually)

I might be tempted to try something "a little bit special" just to flex my webmasterial skills, or then again I might not and just do something easier and therefore lazier... Might need to think/ponder a bit...

Ok i ve found the perfect guild bacnk tool, since all it does is scan the bank and doesnt require anyother guild tools.

Mags - if you go to the following url : it should start downloading the tool.

http://media5.curse-gaming.com/download/1861fee814e4f3bcd4231414c2acd63b82a78ae2/1172227542/47/28605/ (http://media5.curse-gaming.com/download/1861fee814e4f3bcd4231414c2acd63b82a78ae2/1172227542/47/28605/)

there will be 3 directories - inside the guildbankmod  folder is the addon (guildbank)  that needs to go into the interface\addons directory.

the rest need to go where ever on the c: - this is where ZM comes in.

Zombie man - in the other directories are various php based scripts that move the guildbank information and parse it into a readable format. they also contain the icons and style of an ingame bank.

Could you please have a look at these as i am assuming they will need tweaking to allow mags to upload them to the correct place.

There is a Readme in each directory explaining what is contained in the dir and how it can be configured,.

thanks

sorry gave the wrong link entirely.

http://wow-en.curse-gaming.com/files/downloads/28605/ (http://wow-en.curse-gaming.com/files/downloads/28605/)

the above link is the correct link. its called "bankscan", i was looking at looty before somehow it managed to stick in my head.

this will download the three directories.

you will need to go into : bankscan-bankscan-full-pack\BankScan\BankScanMOD

in that directory will be another dir called "bankscan" this will need to go into your addons directory in wow.

the other two directories hold the php info and images that we need for this to work.

once you have the addon installed, login as byrak and type "/bs auto"

this will create a file  in : WOW
Folder/WTF/Account/NAME_OF_ACCOUNT/SavedVariables

called bankscan.lua

there are now two way we do this:

1) you upload this file to zombieman and he converts it to html using the php script that is in the bank2scan folder and puts it on the forum
(this maybe the best way as this directory also holds all the images etc used for the html page)

2) we upload all the images etc to zombieman and you run the php script to convert the lua file to html and upload the html file.

I will email ZM and get him to look at this post to see what he thinks.

Have PM'd Hercule - theory is lua (after being uploaded) will be converted to web page by the server behind these very pages...

Anyway once a suitable BankScan.lua has been uploaded and converted we can have a sticky post with the link to the page for everyone to see.
