Copied from the main forums because it may get modsmacked. Not sure if it cracked me up or creeped me out ...

Hi-diddly-ho, neighbors!

Welcome to this rated G guide to catholic CoH. This guide will be for all the moms and papa's that worry their kids might be learning unwholesome lessons from this great game we know as City of Heroes. As we know the world is filled with anti-christian philosophy and Paragon City is no different. In this guide I will attempt to pinpoint all the obtrusive aspects of this game in order for a good parent to keep their eye on their loved ones so they do not delve into the supernatural or pagan aspects of the game. The number 1 rule you must learn is temptation is everywhere, especially in CoH!

The good ole devs at City of Heroes have already addressed one of the more gruesome aspects of the game with the addition of Paragon's life saving teleport system. This saves us adults from having to have that conversation of life and death because of a video game. Where the lost sheep refer to a defeat as a Kill, the dev's have appropriately named it as an "arrest". I would like to go one step farther and call it a "conversion". When I defeat something either in PvP or PvE, I like to think of it as showing them the light, or the path to eternal bliss. If you take the same mindset you might also feel the endless hours of leveling and playing are actually productive, for you are converting those in cyberspace to productive cyber beings! One great way to do this is by using the battle cry feature. When I enter battle I always like to scream "Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit" Zechariah 4:6. That way not only am I teaching others a lesson in uber CoH strategy, but also educating them on verses from the Almighty.

One of the first things we must realize is that CoH represents the real world. There are good people and bad people, just as there are good groups of bad things and pagan/supernatural groups of bad things. You can look at this conundrum in two ways. Is your child old enough to differentiate between right and wrong? A great litmus test is to have both CoH and CoV installed on your computer and let your child make a character. Although after they make the selection of CoV, you may want to banish them to their room but let them go ahead and finish making their character. This will give you a good indication just how much teaching your loved one needs. What Origin do they pick? Natural or magic? Science or the evil Mutation? Do they pick a normal human face or a monsterface? What kind of wings or cape? Is the character of dark theme or white?

Many of the powers in CoH are not appropriate for the christian gamer. I would say no to anything autorifle, fire, radiation, and for sure dark miasma. If they do choose dark miasma send them to their room and/or confession. Lots more CCD for that kid. Ice and Energy are mulligans as Ice is a part of the world and energy has a little bit of a halo effect. My personal favorites for the Catholic gamer are empathy, mind, and storm. Empathy is my personal favorite, the almighty healer- Resurrection has a very easter feel, and it is easy to spread the word. Mind allows us to convert the lost ones, and storm is the power of nature.

After finding an appropriate toon, we must now highlight the various villain factions of CoH. This is where things get a little seedy. If you are afraid to let your loved one out into an ugly world you may want to embark on another game. If you feel your gamer is ready to be a shepard, there is no better place to find many things in need of the word. Many of the villian factions in CoH are of pagan or undead creation. These villians include:

Pagan or Satanic Villian Groups

Banished Pantheon-The true undead of Paragon City. Some may find the walking corpse's to be unpure.

Circle of Thorns-The circles ranks include magic mages, which can be mildly offensive. However the true harm can come from various summoned demons and behemoths. Of particular santanic note- Mystics can be seen around the city chanting and conducting arcane rituals, often involving unwilling subjects.

Hellions- the leaders are named the Damned and throw fire!

Skulls-A harmless group of low level thugs until you see their bosses throwing the evil dark miasma.

Vahzilok- The scientific undead of Paragon. Reanimated by the twisted science of Dr. Vahzilok, they roam the lower level zones of Paragon City, looking for victims to haul back to the doctor for further experimentation.

Croatoa is probably the most "evil" zone in this cyber world. Keep the kids away unless they are ready to convert. The following evildoers exist in this zone.

Cabal- witches.

Fir Bolg- pumpkin head tree things that throw flaming pumpkins. As we all know holloween is such a pagan holiday...

Red Caps- trolls and dwarfs, oh my.

Tuatha de Dannan- warewolf/deer combination does not sound like bambi. However it is based off irish mythology so happy St. Patrick's Day!

If you feel your loved one is not ready to engage these highly objectional enemies, there are lots of monsters that are more politically christian correct.

Carnival of Shadows-evil carnival group. May keep your kid safe when about to embark on that extra grimy tilt-a-whirl. Just dont mention to them that what the carnival are really trying to do is steal souls.

Clockwork- cute windup toys.

Contaminated- enemies that need to be teleported to hospital to cure their disease!

The Council- a mini history lesson and we thought this was all about religion!

Crey-big corparation who doesn't give any money to charity. Go get them!

The Family-although these Italians are probably roman catholic, they still need a lesson in morals.

Freakshow- These things are like if the car industry in Detroit mated with the common folk.

The Lost- these poor homeless have been recruited to evil. Its time to recruit them to god.

Malta Group-fear the sappers, they may be the most satanic of all enemies! However on the outside Malta looks very wholsome in a wild west kind of way.

Nemesis-can you say Captain Nemo?

Outcasts-basic street thugs

Prisoners- always good to help them "reform".

Rikti-this is like intergalactic teaching.

Sky Raiders-the wright brothers if they invented jet-packs and used them for robberies.

Trolls-drugies. Time to send them to detox.

Tsoo- probably buddists.

Warriors- another low level thug group that likes edged weapons.

So there you have it! If you want to keep your kids away from the satanic groups just stick with the "pc" enemies. Have fun and spread the word!

Apparently real men learn the iron crotch style of kung fu. If the article doesn't make your eyes water, consider the practice required to get there.
