Title: Ding! 80...... now what?
Post by: Swifty on 2 July 2009, 12:00:00 am

KK, finally managed to get a character to the level cap and now I want to start all the fun stuff I haven't been able to do for the last 2 expansions.

But how do I start?

I want to start doing heroics so I can get some BoA stuff and get geared up for guild raiding. I know we maybe be able to do 1 or 2 with the guild once a week, but I would like to get myself really into it over the summer. This will mean PUGs.

I notice the are asking for things in chat like links to ach and stats. So what do I need to be aiming for?

As a healer, what should my mana pool, HP and spell power be?
Do I need to have the epic mount or will my normal flying mount do for the mo?
Are there any quests I should do for a perticular reward? or any item I should be looking for on the AH?
My profs are in the mid 300's atm, do I need to get the higher before I start? (I have tailoring/enchanting)

I honestly have no idea where to start or what order I should do things in. Anyone give me some advice? or recommend some good reading?

Oh, and while I am thinking, did anything come from the idea of doing some heroics on Sunday night?

Normal mount is fine
As a healer you will be treated with more reverence than others and will get PUG invites more
No quests significantly improve your gear - the instance stuff is slightly better in most cases
No, you don't need to improve your professions any faster than you currently are.
Yes, we will do heroics on a Sunday night.

My advice is to start with normal instances first especially if you've not been there.
Let's have a natter on - line. i'll next be around over the weekend

cool. I have been playing with a gear builder I found and have planned this.

Any thoughts from those with healing experience?

The gear is mostly quest rewards from doing the normal lvl 80 dungeons. Couple of quest and rep rewards, and 1 or 2 drops.

My talents are also there, so please feel free to comment.

Two of the items you have marked rely on high level rep which would take a while.

My input would be

buy the crafted spellstrike ring (epic levl 80). It's about 600g
buy the some of the crafted epic cloth stuff (but it's expensive) the robe and gloves are prob all you need
do the argent dawn tornament quests ASAP for a dagger that is +405 spell power
you can buy an epic off hand item (it's always in AH) for about 200g
