Title: Halloween Stuff
Post by: Skarlet on 8 October 2006, 10:27:44 am
Split from Here (http://forum.forlorn-hope.org/index.php?topic=378.0)

Halloween is the next event, has popped up on test a couple of times and may well be on the live servers longer this time around. They're having the same Trick or Treat format as '04 and it looks as though the 5th cossie slot may be related to another halloween event. Just as long as I get my rock back :)

I played on Test a week or so back, and confirmed that the 5th costume slot is unlocked by 4 pieces of special salvage that drop as Treats (Brawlers Gloves, Statesman Mask, Recluse Helmet, and the Hamidon Costume - you should read the descriptions in the info :) ).

However, I did not get a Rock.  Must be a rarer drop than Stateman's Helmet :( (or else they aren't dropping this year...)

2 new badges as well. Defeat the roaming Jack in Irons and defeat 20 Unseelie.

So we up for the rolling Trick or treat team again?

How does Sunday 21st sound for collecting badges people? Normal start time, camp a door somewhere out of the way (IP is probably a good place) and just keep on knockin' :)

I'm assuming that Jack in Chains and Unseelie are going to be spawning in most zones and we can get them as and when - if you've been playing on test and know differently then please share (and how to unlock the extra cossie slot - Skar should know this one, it's a costume option ;))

Sunday 21st sounds surreal (Saturday seems to be the 21st), and on Sunday the 22nd I'm flying back from Germany (going to the games fair in Essen from the Wednesday), I may be around in the evening, but am not due back in the country till late afternoon.

Yay - me and dates again  :P

No probs, if you're available for the evening we can just move it down to 6PM or summat :)

Edit - With a suitable break while I watch the first Episode of Torchwood

Skar - little favour :)

As you've got the test server all ready to roll on your PC could you check these two out

After checking the (probably) final plan is;

Sunday 22nd, Mid-day onwards somewhere in IP. Rolling team so no pressure to stay on for hours

This is not meant for XP gain, we're just trying to make getting the badges as quick and painless as possible on as many characters as needed. Min should be around in the evening, so anyone who wants to put it off till later will have a partner.

Cutey and or Blade will certainly be available for this and will be happy for a SK if someone is working on their mentor badge.

The Test Server is no longer running the Halloween event, and Annah has vanished.  As I remember, she was in the location described in the above link.  (I didn't test with any villains, but it's a fair assumption that the other one is correct too.)

My test alt (Kima) was able to unlock an extra costume slot, even though she had done none of the standard costume missions (Kima is my barefoot Martial Artist, just wearing a little green dress.  Plans for further costumes include little red dress, little black dress...).

She still has some spare salvage pieces - you are likely to receive multiples of some types before you get a full set (though I think there is supposed to be the same chance of each one dropping).  As they are salvage, it should be possible to trade them, or store them in the SG base (not tested as I would have needed to build a base...).

I'm sure I'll be able to join any teams that are going at the weekends - and evenings too, I've got a lot of alts that want extra costume slots! :)

Dr Zeeman has a Halloween-induced extra costume slot - he actually used a door on the same island as Granny Beldam (North and a wee bit West of the Natural store on the bridge in Nerva) - only took a few minutes and only one dupe Halloween-salvage.

I'm up for a bit of "door spamming" again...

Oh - due to a limitation with the levels and knocking on doors (you can only ToT doors in a Zone appropriate to your level zone) there will probably be multiple teams scattered around :)

Quick recap of the door etiquette if you've never done this before;

Select an order to go in, as it appears on the team list is probably easiest
As a group stand 10 ft from the door
In order move up to door and knock. Step back
If you recieve a treat say so in group\SG chat or start lamping on the bad guys

Rinse and repeat until requisite target reached (badges or salvage) then grab next alt :)

If someone is trying to solo\duo a door near you send a quick tell, not only is it polite but bigger groups can get their target quicker.

News from Posi regarding the Jack-in-Chains spawn....

Every time a Halloween spawn is checked for (you've just defeated one) it will randomly, 10% of the time, be Jack-in-Chains rather than Eochai(sp?).

Also he only spawns in zones that are 20+

There's another write-up about the event here (http://paragonwiki.com/index.php?title=Halloween_Event_2006)

P.S. Our BWs may appreciate this bit:

Quote
During the event, the entire game is locked in nighttime mode. This is not just a visual effect. All aspects of the game that depend on a day/night cycle are locked to the night side during the event. Enemies that only spawn at night will be spawning continuously during the event. Banisher, The Slayer, and Haunted badges (Hero side) and Pirate and Spectral badges (Villain side) are examples of badges for which hunting will be much easier during the event.
