Title: Holiday season meet and drink
Post by: Naaman on 6 October 2006, 04:04:21 pm
Looking to do the next one around the Christmas holidays and get as many people as possible involved :)

Jimmy and Awe are back home from 16th December to 7th or 8th of January which makes it bloody awkward  >:( as that sorta strikes off 17th Dec, 24th Dec and 31st December. So we either look at doing it on the 6th January OR see if people can make it on a weekday (Myself and Rachel wangled  the three days off between Xmas and New Year)

THoughts?

The slot between Christmas and New Year looks good...only because I'm off too  ;)

Between Chrimbo and New Years sounds good to me, ill give awe a poke, would imagine that it is fine with him too.

If Jimmy is driving up from home then I can get a lift off him so I could go up during the holidays.

If he's not going then it'd have to be during term time though.

Jimmy, it's your call (after suitable discussions with Awe). Give us a day :)

Stupid job,

have to work between chrimbo and new year >:(

but i could make evenings.

Other option is to tell your familys you have more important things to do and that the world does not revolve around them, and we do a christmas special. Damn families, wanting to see you all the time and stuff.

Between Christmas and new years sounds good to me and Awe so these are the best dates that we could come up this: Fri 9th or sat 10th. There is a major problem with those dates though as the public transport system will be mayhem. So the other option is Friday the 5th/sat the 6th of Jan. Can't really do any later than that as my lectures start again on Monday the 8th. Let me know if those dates are any good for people, may be able to squeeze a date in before Christmas too but will have to be sunday the 17th or during the week. If it does have to be during the week then i will have to know when so i can arrange around it.

Hi all,

In danger of sounding like a desperate person in search for social contact, I might consider leaving this cold country up north to meet you guys.

I think it would be great fun to actually meet some of you IRL. Although, I have a family and a job (wich is going to make me work every other weekend from November 23rd :( ), I might convince my GF to go shopping in London or where ever you plan this to happen.
If I´m going to make this happen I need some more specific details (town/time etc.).

Gief me more epixx for free

We're in Redhill, 20 minutes by train from London and on the Gatwick line.

As for time we generally start the ball rolling about Mid-day, ending up in the pub at about 8PM

Arguable, he works in the city as a stockbroker so reptile till he's had enough drink, then vegetable ...  :)

Look out, I'm watching you..... Grats on being the first person1 to post after the forum upgrade. Your prize is.... is.... well.... nothing actually because I'm mean like that....

1 Well technically the second, but then I have an unfair advantage because the first post after the upgrade was when the forum was "switched off" so to speak and I can do things like that.

From what i understand - we will be having 4 over seas visitors this meet up. Might be a bit too many to fit in your house naaman!?!?

I think with that in mind we should have a actual plan of drinking, eating then drinking some more?

Ideas?

Actually we managed to do a jam packed lab room of death (tm) without too much incident with a bit of tactics and NOT using plan A while you had your NTL issues. It does happen occasionally

Of course every once in a while we do resort to plan B  :o

Whilst this is by necessity kept under careful lock and key, I can disclose that it is, for the most part, pretty much the same in fact as plan A... Only the pubs secret gathering locations are changed to frame protect the innocents... ;D

My first thought as a witty reply would probably have got me banned from the boards, but certainly 1 and possibly a second.

Same pub ?

I'm actually in a certain amount of trouble, it turns out there's engineering work on the line so trains are taking a good hour longer than usual. Will get back to you when I know how it's going to work. Getting there not a particular problem (although will not make 1200) , but currently trying to find an option for getting back that works and allows me to stay later than 1930.
