Have been having glowie trouble since the last patch but one, and from the main boards I can tell I'm not alone (and also by the fact that the GM couldn't hear it either when I summoned him to find it). The volume of the glowie noise has dropped by about 80-90% and this makes it barely audible when running no powers at all, and completely inaudible over Hand of Bast's ice armor sounds.
Have corresponded with cuppajo on this and wondered whether
A) anybody gets this problem with anything other than one of the Audigy soundcards.
B) Anybody with an Audigy soundcard doesn't get it and if so what drivers they're using.

Haven't noticed any major noise reduction on glowie sounds although I have noticed that the sound changes when;
1) There's more than one glowie nearby
AND
2) You're clicking one of them
The noise becomes deeper.
Audigy card, unsure of drivers ATM - will check when I get home.
Steve, what speaker setup do you have? And How's the Soundcard set up in Windows? (I'm presuming you've fiddled with the in game settings?)

Logitech fairly basic 2 speaker and subwoofer working fine, all other ingame sounds working fine, soundcard untouched from default settings it was supplied with.
As it is only this particular sound that I have a problem with, I don't think it's the speaker setup. I've had this problem when only one glowie left in mission and appears to happen with every glowie for me.

Just as a means of eliminating it as a problem.....
Check the speaker setup in Windows Control Panel, make sure it's set to 2+Sub. Do a sound check
In game - Make sure surround\EAX\flangy enviromental sound effects are off.
Potentially it's looking to spread the sound to 3 more speakers than you've got....

Was set to 5.1 surround, set it to desktop speakers, but didn't help.
Also played with the ingame settings but didn't seem to make any difference.
